摘要

Ballistic Research Laboratory Technical Note No. 801, Appendix B, contains details of test methods employed, graphs of results, and discussion of procedural and results. Apparatus used provided for concurrent measurement of electric drive motor current and voltage, input torque, output torque, and feed shaft speed. Records were obtained over the time interval consumed by winding the feed mechanism driving spring from its relaxed state to slipping its clutch. The four graphited feeds under test produced essentially the same characteris¬tics as the two Mechanisms, AN-M2, lubricated with Grease, MlL-G-15793, at extreme low temperature. The motor draws 13 amperes when starting and 5 to 6 amperes when the clutch slips;friction torque is 50 to 150 inch-pounds and so constitutes 30 Per cent or less of the input torque.
