This report documents preliminary information for acceleration compensating schemes. The schemes described are suitable for incorporation into a vertically-erected, compass-slaved, three-gyro platform. Their incorporation will result in more accurate indications of local vertical and north by the platform.nThe recommended scheme for reducing instrument errors resulting from accelerations requires but one external input, namely, latitude. Acceleration errors are reduced to a fraction of the gyro random drift error in both roll and pitch, thus affording a more accurate indication of magnetic north. This scheme enables the platform to operate either as an undamped or a damped pseudo-Schuler system.
