Level of Aspiration Measures and Self-Estimates of Personality in Relation to Achievement Motivation

The primary purpose of this research was to investigate the re¬lationship between level of aspiration measures derived from two conga tive tasks and achievement motivation scores obtained by means of the thematic apperception method. A secondary purpose was to compare the achievement motivation scores with several indices of reported self-perceptions with respect to various personality traits. The subjects were 6l male and 34 female college students.nThe results of the study support the hypothesis that the experimental level of aspiration techniques used and the McMlelland method of measuring achievement drive are tapping somewhat related aspects of behavior.
