摘要

The study of the transformation of steels and other iron alloys has been pursued for a long time in many places. Isothermal and continuous cooling transformation data have been obtained under fundamental and applied research conditions. The application of the results of such work has been mainly in the field of industrial heat-treatment. The selection of material composition and heat-treatment process has been based on the accomplished results of this work. The desire to produce a sufficient depth of required hardness, without the risk of cracking and distortion in a complicated component has been well fulfilled.
