Protocol for a Study to Determine the Readiness of Nursing Practitioners to Accept the Responsibility of Teaching Patients Self Care During Hospitalization

Teaching self-care to patients and their families is an essential part of nursing care that is often neglected. This study presents a protocol for determining if registered nurses are ready to accept the responsibility of teaching self-care and rehabilitation practices to patients and their families during the patients' stay at the hospital. Current literature on the topic is reviewed, and a structured interview is presented as a recommended tool for obtaining this information.
