Cutaneous Irritation and Percutaneous Absorption in the Topical Application of Methyl CCNU (NSC No. 95441)

Skin irritation studies were performed and graded according to the Draize Methodology. The primary irritation indexes for 9%, 3%, and 1% Methyl CCNU were 2.9, 3.0, and 1.5 respectively. These data indicated that Methyl CCNU was not a primary irritant. However, the pathological findings indicated the presence of severe tissue damage. No other treatment related organ damage was found after Methyl CCNU treatment.
