Cutaneous Irritation in the Topical Application of Methyl CCNU (NSC 95441) to New Zealand White Rabbits.

Skin irritation studies using Methyl CCNU (NSC no. 95441) were performed with New Zealand white rabbits and graded according to the Draize Methodology. The primary irritation indexes for 9%, 3%,and 1% Methyl CCNU were 2.9, 3.0,and 1.5respectively. These data indicated that Methyl CCNU was not a primary irritant. However,the pathologic findings indicated the presence of severe tissue damage. No other treatment related organ damage was found after Methyl CCNU treatment.
