Department of Defense Value Engineering Program Needs Top Management Support.

摘要

The Defense value engineering program,designed to motivate contractors to help cut costs,is saving far less than it can. A lack of support by top-level Defense managers has been the basic cause. If Defense can improve management support to achieve its estimate of the program's minimum savings potential, $1billion can be saved in the next 4years. GAO recommends action to insure aggressive support and active promotion of the program by the service secretaries and managers.
