摘要

The development of industrial health curricula at the University of Michigan is described. Much of the curricula and teaching efforts in the program have been devoted to the graduate level of education seeking to prepare graduates for work in government, industry, labor, research organizations, and other interested agencies. The courses were designed so as to provide a solid background in concepts, theory and application of industrial hygiene. The training was broad enough to allow the student to specialize in toxicology, sampling and analysis, epidemiology, physical stresses, or engineering. The doctoral level work emphasizes research and specialization and was usually selected by those seeking careers in research organizations and universities. Work environments visited by students included sites in the automotive industry, steel manufacturing industry, foundries, chemical manufacturing industry, and pharmaceutical industry. Suggested courses and electives for these programs are listed.
