Although improvements in details of safety belts are still possible, the safety belt system of today is very effective in case of collisions. A part of the safety belt system, the lock has been a point of discussion over a long period. International specifications have been drawn up. A new development is the safety belt with automatic unbolting. This is done by the deceleration of the vehicle occupant in case of a collision. This system can only come into production when the specifications have been modified. The advantages and disadvantages of the system are studied to determine whether the specifications should be modified.
