Loads Due to Human Movements on Assembly Structures

Low cost micro computer-based data acquisition/processing systems were assembled, and most of the available software were enhanced, adapted and/or rewritten for specific applications. A large (4 ft by 8 ft) force platform was designed and constructed making it possible to measure loads induced by several people acting simultaneously. Computer programs were specifically written for data acquisition. The programs not only control the sampling of strain gage output during tests but also scale and transform the output so that it is in the form of load versus time vectors which can be stored on floppy diskettes. The data is then reduced to just a few random descriptors per load history or viewed in graphical form.
