A description of the computer program implementation of an analytic technique is presented, which was developed to study the behavior of a signal in a noisy nonlinear channel. Greater economy in the running of the simulation program MODSIM can be achieved by using analytical techniques to account for the effect of noise instead of performing multiple runs with different noise samples where it is difficult to assess the confidence limits. Three mathematical techniques were studied which can be used to perform the analysis. The method most applicable uses a polynomial expansion of the nonlinear device characteristics. The noise after the nonlinear device is characterized by its autocorrelation function. For volumes 1 and 3 see ESA 93206 and 93208.
