摘要

Chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of type 304 (stainless) steels actually commences in the form of a pitting attack. The most important task was to determine what conditions cause the cracks to develop from the corrosion pits. Electrochemical conditions play an increasingly important role in SCC.
