New Innovative Businesses from Industry. Experiences in the Netherlands in the Successful Transfer of Technology from University to Industry

The experience of graduates starting businesses, the attitudes of graduates to setting up their own companies, and the Twente Technical Institute (Holland) start-up policy were surveyed. Of 95 companies founded between 1977 and 1980, 82 are still active. About 50% are management or technical consultancies, 30% computer hardware or software production, and 13% manufacturing of other products.
