Aramid Reinforced Aluminum Laminates: Arall Adhesion Problems and Environmental Effects. Part A: Adhesion and Delamination

摘要

Delamination in the thin intermediate layers of ARALL, consisting of aramid fibers and metal adhesive was studied. Phenomenological details of the delamination mechanisms in ARALL are given. The usefulness and limitations of different types of specimens to study delamination under mode 1, mode 2, and combined modes of loading is discussed. The application of fracture mechanics to understand the delamination behavior is assessed.
