摘要

The effect of a phosphoric acid dip following chromic anodizing of aluminum on initial bond strength and durability in an aggressive environment was investigated. The topography obtained after etching and the degree of surface wetting, with and without a primer, were studied using the scanning electron microscope, and compared with results obtained from phosphoric acid anodizing. Results indicate that to achieve high strength bonds, good surface wetting is extremely important. The incorporation of phosphate ions into the surface to be bonded is necessary.
