摘要

An enormous volume of environmental data can be derived from the measurements of spectral radiance of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, made by the instruments on board the polar orbit NOAA series satellite. The Tiros-N Vertical Operational Sounder (TOVS) instruments provide data to deduce the temperature and humidity from the surface up to the stratopause. To retrieve meteorological parameters, from the spectral radiance measurements, a full Export Package (DNEXPORT), was installed in the Burroughs-B6800 (48 bits/word) computer. The implemented DNEXPORT package is an improved version, modified from the previous one, by the inclusion of the physical algorithms. The DNEXPORT package also produces total ozone concentration in Dobson units, from the radiation emission of carbon dioxide and ozone of the stratosphere. Preliminary results from the physical solution using sounding received from the NOAA-9 satellite, on April 18, 1986, at INPE's Meteorological Satellite Reception Station/Cachoeira Paulista are presented. As it is well-known, the current Brazilian radiosonde network fails to solve several important problems on the tropospheric scale of motion. Since the final objective is to make an intensive use of satellite sounding system data, some comparison between satellite and conventional in-situ soundings that were available in conjunction with the near overpass of NOAA-9 are also presented.
