The Marangoni convection in a finite floating-zone due to a linear or quadratic (ring-heater) temperature distribution was determined analytically and numerically, to compare solutions with adherence and slip condition at the top and bottom of the liquid bridge. Nonlinear effects on flow and temperature were also determined. Slip condition yields considerably different flow behavior for small aspect ratio floating-zones and in the vicinity of the walls. The contribution of the nonlinearities in the flow is not too pronounced, but exhibits considerable differences in the temperature distribution.
