Theoretical Investigation of the Injection and Evaporation of Water in aHydrogen/Oxygen Steam Generator

For the cooling of the reaction products resulting from a stoichiometrichydrogen/oxygen combustion, water is injected normal to the gas stream. The penetration of the jet strongly influences the temperature distribution across the streaming water vapor. The penetration of the jet is calculated by using the jet shedding model. The results are compared with the data of the garden hose model. To calculate the lifetime of a water droplet in super heated stream, several models are developed. The parameters of the injection and evaporation process are varied and analyzed.
