摘要

The present study is a critical review of the fundamentals of radiation damage. In writing it, 1 tried to single out and interpret, crom the large body of scientific literature, what I regarded as the findamental contributions to the understanding of fission damage in solids, mainly in UO2. -Thus, some information was reported in detail and sore was omitted, partly because it is simply impractical to sift all the available literature into a coherent account. The interpretation and tieories of .radiation damage were of central importance because they alone can arm us with interpretive and predictive powers on future fuel systems.
