Individual Differences in Working Memory Capacity and Control of Attention

This project conducted a series of studies designed to measure and understand the nature of individual differences in working memory capacity and the extent to which such differences result from differences in the ability to control attention. Tasks are described that have good reliability and validity for measuring working memory capacity. Studies are described suggesting that individual differences in speed of processing may reflect differences in the speed of attention focus and shifting.
