摘要

Use of Ausman's linearized PH method to determine the thresholdnof half frequency whirl for a rigid rotor in self-acting cylindricalnjournal bearings is extended to include finite length effects.nRotating polar coordinates are used to derive the governing equation. Results obtained are generally consistent with several previous works in wide ranges of all parameters. This method is judged to give con¬servative results and is suitable for studying dynamic problems of more complicated systems.
