Construction and Performance of High Current Air-GAP Switches

摘要

From an experimental study of the properties of singlechannel air-gap switches, the design and performance of efficient multi-channel switches are derived. These switches have the ability to handle currents of several million amperes, to hold-off high voltages, and to switch in times of the order of 10 to the minus 8th power seconds, with an inductance in the order of 10 to the minus 8th power henries.
