Form Perception in Video Viewing: Effects of Form Content and Stereo on Recognition

Recognition values, under varying levels of image degradation, were determined for randomly constructed objects of varying complexity (contour turns) and for familiar geometric objects. Values for both familiar and unfamiliar objects were significantly affected by image degradation, but were unaffected by using stereo viewing as compared with nonstereo viewing under the conditions of these experiments. Variations in the effective inter-objective distance between stereo images had no significant effect on recognition values. (Author)
