This report presents the results of a theoretical analysis of certain aspects of the response of a typical hydrofoil craft to underwater explosions. This report is believed to be the first consideration of its type. Specifically, it is believed that underwater blast phenomena have not been considered in the design analysis of existing hydrofoil craft. The AG(EH) hydrofoil craft was chosen for specific investigation of the damage potential due to underwater blasts. Since foilborne operation is postulated, the potential damage to the strut-foil systems is emphasized. Also, the capability of the craft to avoid the surface phenomena such as the plume or spray dome is presented. All results are presented in a parametric form in terms of charge weight, W, and standoff distance, R, of the craft. (Author)
