Other means also are used for determining the ice movement velocity within a glacier, such as the planting of markers in a pit;the pit is later dug out and the displacement of the markers determined. This method is very laborious and insufficiently precise.nThe present paper describes an attempt to determine the velocity of ice movement within a glacier by geophysical methods. The most applicable methods in this connection are those of electric surveying;those of magnetic sur¬veying are more limited.
