A movement speed estimation device 30 comprises: a body length calculation unit 31 for calculating, from a video 340 obtained by imaging an underwater organism with a monocular camera 34, an apparent body length 310 in the video 340 of a specific portion of the underwater microorganism; a movement amount calculation unit 32 for calculating an apparent movement amount 320 in the video 340 of the underwater microorganism in a prescribed period of the video 340; and an estimation unit 33 for estimating the movement speed of the underwater microorganism on the basis of the apparent body length 310 and the apparent movement amount 320. The foregoing allows estimation of the movement speed of the underwater organism with a simple configuration.
