Design Summary of the Data Acquisition and Analysis Systems for the 380Foot High Performance Towing Tank.

In order to efficiently utilize the new 380foot towing tank presently under construction at the U. S. Naval Academy,considerable study has gone into making the transfer of data from the sensor to the computer printout an efficient and interactive process. This has involved trying out new computer equipment and techniques on the present 85foot towing tank,as well as design studies for the data transmission and power distribution systems for the new tank. The data acquisition and power distribution systems are dependent on the particular configuration evolved for the towing tank and the associated carriages. Consequently the discussion is divided into two parts;Part 1discusses the analysis systems contemplated for processing the data;Part 2describes the means of getting the data to the analysis equipment as well as the implements for providing power to the instrumentation and its control.
