Port Weller Dry Docks, a small, progressive Canadian shipyard has recently installed AUTOKON-79, AUTOPART, AUTONEST and developed several pipe fabrication and installation programs on an in-house PRIME 550 minicomputer. In addition, the company has purchased several graphic peripherals and a Union Carbide Plasma burning machine with DNC capabilities that are used in conjunction with the software. This paper summarizes the reasons for making these moves, the justifications, and the problems encountered.
