摘要

Soman (GD), an organophosphate nerve agent, can persist in the environment and can, therefore, present both an acute and a subchronic threat to personnel. The time-course of overt effects upon blood cholinesterase enzymes and vision can be monitored and recovery may eventually appear to be complete. Latent effects upon the central nervous system (CNS) have not been characterized and cannot presently be monitored. Work on this contract has undertaken to characterize CNS effects attributable to low-level, sublethal soman. Work described in previous reports has employed laboratory rats and baboons, During this reporting period the experiments with baboons have been completed and all data obtained for individual baboons throughout the three years of the contract have been exhaustively analyzed, consolidated, and are presented in this report.
