Dialkylamino Phosphorus Metal Carbonyls. 2. Bis(diisopropylamino)phosphido and (Diisopropylamino)phosphinidene Metal Carbonyl Complexes from Reactions of Manganese and Cobalt Carbonyls with Bis(diisopropylamino)phosphine

The previous paper of this series discussed reactions of bis(diisopropylamino)phosphine., (i-Pr2N)2PH, with the mononuclear metal carbonyl derivatives (THF)M(CO)n (n = 4, M = Fe;n = 5, M = Cr, Mo, W), (THF)Mn(CO)2Cp, and fac-(EtCN)3W-(CO)3 to give the corresponding mononuclear (i-Pr2N)2PH metal carbonyl complexes. This paper describes reactions of (i-Pr2N)2PH with the metal metal bonded binuclear metal carbonyl derivatives Mn2(CO)10 and Co2(CO)8. Such reactions follow a different course, giving the binuclear bis(diisoproplamino)phosphido metal carbonyl hydride (i-Pr2N)2PMn2(CO)8H in the case of Mn2(CO)10 and the trinuclear diisopropylaminophosphinidene metal carbonyl complex i-Pr2NPCo3(CO)9 in the case of Co2(CO)8. The structures of these two complexes have been determined by X ray diffraction.
