Fluorescence Detection of Alkylphosphonic Acids Using p-(9-Anthroyloxy) Phenacyl Bromide

Organophosphonates have found wide use as herbicides, insecticides, and antibiotics. Given their biocidal potency, sensitive means for monitoring trace amounts of organophosphonates in the environment are needed. Laser based detection methods have provided excellent sensitivities in the determination of a variety of compounds. This report elaborates an analysis technique for methylphosphonic acid, a residue resulting from complete hydrolysis of sarin.
