PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of conveniently and industrially advantageously producing an alkylphosphonic acid monoester and/or an alkylphosphonic acid by using general reaction equipment without using a large amount of solvent or carrying out a complicated process.;SOLUTION: The method of producing an alkylphosphonic acid monoester and/or an alkylphosphonic acid represented by the specified general formula (I) comprises subjecting an alkylphosphonic acid diester to a hydrolysis reaction at a temperature of 120°C or higher in the presence of a solid acid catalyst while adding water.
