摘要

This report examines maximum likelihood parameter estimation for signal models characteristic of the stepped sinusoid response of underwater acoustic transducers. The estimation problem is found to be particularly difficult when the stepped sinusoid excitation is at or near a resonance and the observation time is short compared to the model transient. A variable projection implementation of maximum likelihood estimator is used to study parameter estimation when the excitation is near resonance. (rh)
