摘要

Five new, all-solid-state pulse generators have been designed to meet the requirements for an efficient, reliable pulsed power source to drive free electron laser amplifiers. Four of these have been constructed and tested. These SCR-commutated, nonlinear magnetic pulse compressors will be fully-compatible with present high power SDIO induction linac driven free electron laser. By employing SCRs rather than thyratron commutators, these pulsers should provide a significant increase in reliability over the current generation pulsed power drivers proposed as drivers for Free Electron Lasers. SCR-commutated nonlinear magnetic pulse compressors, SNOMAD-I, II, IV and V have been successfully tested at SRL. The goals of this research effort have been realized. A line of cost effective, reliable, efficient, all-solid-state induction linac drivers has now been developed. (rh)
