The Conference on Applications of Advances in Toxicology to Risk Assessmentcovered a multitude of topics with a wide range of interest. Topics presented by noted scientists in their fields of expertise included the role of the military in accelerating the phaseout of substances that deplete the ozone layer, policy considerations in alternative methods and approaches to the use of animals in toxicology research, the application of pharmacokinetics and physiologically based pharmacokinetic models in chemical risk assessment, selected mechanisms in carcinogenicity, and advances in the assessment of toxicological end points. A poster session presenting research in risk assessment/toxicology complemented the platform presentations. The Air Force, Army, and Navy supported the Conference that was attended by representatives from the government, industry, and academia.
