摘要

Farmer Field Schools (FFS) started in Indonesia in the late 1980s to help farmers understand the pests and diseases on their crops and manage them using integrated techniques. They adopted a unique approach with farmers 'learning by doing', through group activities and by extension staff adopting a facilitator role. The concept quickly spread as it became clear that this hands-on approach was effective at managing other farming issues such as soil erosion and nutrient management.
