EPA Fines Sears

Roughly a month after announcing that it would begin selling paint in its stores again after a long hiatus, Sears reached a setdement with the Environmental Protection Agency over violations of the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule, according to the EPA. Under the setdement, the EPA said, Sears will pay a $400,000 civil penalty and implement a program to ensure that contractors hired by the company follow the rule.
