摘要

Joining of carbon-carbon composites usingelectrically insulating glass-ceramic materials as bonding agenthas been investigated. The thermal expansion coefficient of theglass-ceramic can be tailored to closely match that of thecarbon-carbon composites. The strong, electrically insulatingjoints thus produced are suitable for high temperature (1000 degC) applications. The joint strength obtained is considerablyhigher than the shear strength of the C-C composite.
