摘要

Joining of carbon-carbon composites using electrically insulating glass-ceramic materials as bonding agent has been investigated. The thermal expansion coefficient of the glass-ceramic can be tailored to closely match that of the carbon-carbon composites. The strong, electrically insulating joints thus produced are suitable for high temperature (1000 deg C) applications. The joint strength obtained is considerably higher than the shear strength of the C-C composite.
