In commercial, terms, it is preferable that poorly performing compounds are removed at early discovery phases and, not duringthe costly drug development phases. Drug metabolism is a major determinant of drug clearance and interindividual pharmacokinetic differences, arid an indirect determinant of clinical efficacy and drug toxicity. Over the last decade, in vitro-based strategies in lead optimization screening combined with AEbMET screening studies have consequently been incorporated earlier in the drug discovery phase.
