Shrimp has been hard to come by. With early mortality syndrome (EMS) devastating production in Asia, prices have skyrocketed and what was once a widespread commodity is getting increasingly high-end. The solution? Grow your own. The central London shrimp farming company, Marizca, was formed a year ago by three biochemical engineering students from University College London (UCL) who came up with a method of intensively farming shrimp in warehouses in London.
