Commission recommends pan-EU identification numbers for medical equipment

One of the key priorities in the current overhaul of the European medical device directives is to improve future traceability of medical products. In April, the Commission published an official recommendation outlining the essential criteria a new harmonised pan-EU system employing unique device identification (UDI) should use.
