Automakers plan to urge European refiners to stop using a gasoline additive that can impair the performance of a car's catalytic converter and lead to increased emissions. Members of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) are hoping for an effective ban on the use of methyl-cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) which can be used to boost the octane value of poor quality gasoline.
