Moscow confirms that it is close to finalizing talks with Beijing that will finally open the taps for Russian gas flows to its energy-hungry neighbor. State gas giant Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) should by the end of June define “key consumption markets for natural gas and gas chemistry products,” Gazprom Deputy Chief Executive Valery Golubev said. The sides agreed last year that Gazprom would supply China with 70 Bcm/yr from fields in West and East Siberia and off Sakhalin Island starting in 2014-15.
