Virgin rapeseed oil is currently experiencing a surge in popularity due its nutritional benefits and distinctive taste. Bertrand Matthaus looks at the production processes in place to ensure quality in the end oil. For some years now, the market of virgin oils has become broader and, nowadays, an increasing number of consumers have begun favouring virgin rapeseed oil to other options such as virgin olive oil. Reasons for this change of trend, and interest in virgin rapeseed oil, include the nutritional properties of the oil in general, the demand of consumers for less processed food and the increasing desire for edible oils with a natural taste and smell.
