Mingei Legacy/Continuity and Innovation Through Three Generations of Modern Potters

Published in conjunction with the exhibition "Mingei Legacy: The Pottery of Hamada, Kawai, Leach and Their Successors" at the Mingei International Museum in San Diego, California, this monograph "traces the work of a significant, but relatively small, number of artists who worked directly with three leading mingei [folk craft] movement artists: Shoji Hamada, Kanjiro Kawai and Bernard Leach. Two generations of successors to each of these three artists are represented.... One branch of many on the Leach family tree, transplanted to American soil through Warren MacKenzie, is followed to the fourth generation (Leach, MacKenzie, [Mark] Pharis, [Linda] Sikora)."
