FILE THIS ONE UNDER "GRUDGing Admiration." While tooling along in the new SLK on surface streets and freeways near our offices, I couldn't help noticing other drivers in everything from chrome-wheeled Euro-sedans to slammed Accords paying the highest compliment to Mercedes' newest arrival...they got really competitive. Flurries of gratuitous revs, nervous looks in the rearview mirror followed by quick, territorial lane changes, stuff like that.
