This report describes the development and application of Aluminum Drill Pipe211u001e(ADP) in Russia. Advantages of ADP for borehole drilling include low specific 211u001egravity, corrosion resistance in various aggressive environments, non-magnetic, 211u001estable mechanical properties, and high manufacturing efficiency. Issues related 211u001eto the use of aluminum alloys for manufacturing drill pipe became an object of 211u001eserious study for directional, extended-reach, and horizontal wells, and 211u001eultradeep borehole drilling. Furthermore, extension of drilling to offshore and 211u001eto areas with difficult environmental conditions and limited infrastructure 211u001erequired the reduction of transportation costs of equipment and materials. All 211u001ethese problems can be reduced or eliminated by the application of ADP.
