There are two sides to my work. I make functional and also large, expressive thrown pots. For the former, I'm interested in how the pot will be used. I want it to work well. Surfaces are decorated, whether all over, or with a simple stripe. I like vibrant colours: dark greens, cobalt blues, orange-red slips with glossy transparent glazes in light blues or greens. For the latter I make pots with volume - moon jar-esque. I love stretching the clay, filling the forms out; and I enjoy the challenge of making large pieces, handling several kilos of clay and working on a big scale.
